Our Year in Review

It‘s with great pleasure I report that financial year 09/10 was indeed successful for Citywide. Our efforts in securing strategic, long-term contacts has further confirmed our status as one of the nation’s leading providers of civil infrastructure, open space and environmental services.

 While retaining over 80% of tendered contracts, Citywide successfully won an additional $8.8 million in annualised revenue.

Additionally, our fantastic safety results underline the strong duty of care our employees feel and express in the workplace. This year’s Lost Time Injury rate was 1.65% - well below our target of 7% for the year and well below the industry average.

Tender performance has been particularly satisfying. One of our key objectives for the year was to further improve our tender win/loss ratios, and I am pleased to report we have succeeded.

Recently, we were awarded the Parks & Gardens and Tree Maintenance contract for Cardinia Shire, one of Victoria’s largest municipalities. This six-year contract will see Citywide provide maintenance to over 900 hectares of parks, gardens and bush land reserves, and give us a significant presence in the important south-eastern growth corridor of Melbourne.

Substantial growth brings with it challenges to our structure, planning and business systems. To navigate these, we are strengthening our job costing systems, HR policies and procedures, OH&S, risk and quality frameworks and our proprietary asset management product, TRAX.

In a year marred by global uncertainty, Citywide achieved its 9th consecutive year of record revenue growth - $160m. We have an excellent management team across our collective operations in VIC, NSW and the ACT. We are now stronger, more competitive and more confident than ever before. Systems integrity, supported by smart, accurate and commonsense procedures will be the foundation of our continued success in the coming years.

As members of a dynamic and dedicated team, we have all worked tirelessly to achieve this impressive result. I extend my thanks and gratitude to all Citywide personnel and to our loyal customers as we move positively into the future and wish you all a safe, happy Christmas.
