Citywide Embraces Social Media as way of Recruiting Arborists

by Citywide | 10.03.2011
In a departure from conventional hiring practices, Citywide has embraced social media technology and ventured into cyberspace to establish a site solely dedicated to the engagement and recruitment of Arborists.

Linked with Facebook and Twitter, offers prospective employees an ‘up close and personal insight’ into the day to day experiences and activities of its Arborists.

Providing both video and editorial blogs, tweets, the latest arboriculture news, industry trends, and all the information any prospective employee would need to join Citywide’s team, the site will certainly position its self as a one stop arborist recruitment and information shop.

Dean Grant, Citywide’s Open Space Divisional Manager is confident the new venture will yield positive results. Commenting on the initiative, he emphasised that “used properly, social media is certainly a powerful medium for companies looking at recruiting qualified staff. It allows us the opportunity to engage with prospective candidates at a very early phase in the recruitment process, allowing both parties ample opportunity to make an informed decision.”

“We live in a world where many of us share information on line; why not create an interactive mechanism allowing people the opportunity to work for Citywide? This initiative could not have come at a better time. Having recently won three new contracts requiring the maintenance of 300,000 trees for the Shire of Cardinia, and the Cities of Whitehorse and Knox, we are keen to engage more arborists to help us meet this challenge,” said Dean.
