Environmental Services Division Manager Chris Ryan recently announced that Citywide was once again the successful contractor for the provision of waste collection services to the City of Moreland.
“We are extremely pleased to have been re-awarded the waste services contract. This is a great victory for our staff and indeed for Citywide. Our Environmental Division operates in a highly competitive industry. This win is a credit to our dedicated staff that provide our customers with the levels of service and reliability they expect,” said Chris.
Citywide has been providing waste management services to the City of Moreland south region for the past 15 years. The contract win will add a further seven years to Citywide’s longstanding relationship with Moreland.
Commenting on the decision to re-award Citywide the waste contract, the City of Moreland’s Group Manager, City Operations Andrew Mackinnon said, “Citywide has won this contract from a very high quality field. This is a testament to both the quality and cost efficiency of your service. I am really happy to have such a great contract partner to work with in providing a top-notch service to our community”.
Citywide’s Operational Manager overseeing the Moreland contract Theo Romios was equally pleased and looking forward to continuing the relationship with Council, “Having provided waste collection services to Council for 15 years, we understand our role as ambassadors of Council. The effective management of waste is a challenge that everyone takes seriously. By providing Moreland’s residents with a convenient, reliable and safe service that meets their needs, I believe we were able to differentiate from our competitors and succeed,” said Theo.
As part of the specifications, Moreland Council sought to implement "best practice" waste management services throughout the City, by embracing all aspects of residential and commercial kerbside waste collection and handling. Citywide will provide cost effective service levels in accordance with Council’s ‘best value” framework and the Moreland Waste and Litter Strategy.
Encompassing just under half of the municipality, over 32,000 homes will continue to be serviced by Citywide’s waste collection teams. Commencing in October 2011, the new waste agreement includes the collection of green waste, recycling materials and household waste items.
Many hours were spent to develop a successful proposal. As part of the requirements, Citywide had to illustrate its ability to achieve a number of key operational objectives. These included:
- Maintain regular and reliable waste services within the City of Moreland;
- Provide high standard, integrated waste services.
- Maximising the recovery of recyclable and reusable components in the waste stream; and
- Establish and maintain community education programs.
In partnership with Moreland City Council, Citywide looks forward to continuing to service the waste collection needs of the municipality both now and into the future.
