Regarded as one of Australia’s most esteemed and picturesque educational institutions, the University of Melbourne recently selected Citywide as the successful provider of Open Space, Grounds Cleaning and Horticultural Maintenance Services.
Founded in 1853 and home to over 35,000 students, the University of Melbourne is the second oldest tertiary institution in Australia and has recently been ranked 60th in the Academic Ranking of World Universities compiled by researchers at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
A combined effort between Citywide’s Environmental and Open Space divisions helped secure this prestigious client.
As part of the requirements, Citywide will provide gardening, grounds cleaning and turf management services for the next three years to the University’s Parkville and Werribee Campuses. This latest addition to Citywide’s portfolio will sit comfortably alongside our other iconic open spaces contracts, like Government House, the Shrine of Remembrance, Canberra’s National Capital Authority, and the City of Sydney.
The contract will involve Citywide in close consultation with the University working to achieve the following outcomes:
- Provide a world class sustainable campus environment;
- Ensure the University’s Open Spaces are maintained and managed in a professional, competent and heritage sensitive manner; and
- Ensure the grounds (at all times) reflect the high standard expected of a University and its standing in the community;
Speaking on behalf of the successful contract team, Citywide’s Open Space Divisional Manager Dean Grant, was pleased with the outcome. “For a number of years we have been looking at the University of Melbourne and patiently waiting for the opportunity to express our interest in undertaking the required works. When the opportunity finally arose, we knew we had to win it.”
“Aside from locality and the proximity to other locations we maintain, we felt the campuses requirements directly suited Citywide’s strengths. Obviously the outcome reflected our conviction that we could put forward the strongest proposal to the University,” said Dean.
“This is a terrific addition to our portfolio of clients and we all look forward at ensuring we remain the preferred supplier for many years to come.”
