A sun soaked Melbourne day at Commonwealth Park, in Williamstown, greeted the Citywide Trees Team earlier this month for the 15th Annual Victorian Tree Climbing Championships.
Fielding a team of four enthusiastic competitors (Sam Sweeney, Ryan Hocking, Scott Mulholland and Rebecca Barnes), the Citywide crew were ‘ready to go’ as they took to the trees in a bid to take on Victoria’s best climbers.
A large Citywide contingent turned out to cheer on the feats of our climbers and based on their results they didn’t disappoint, with all four competitors doing themselves and the company proud. Rebecca performed solidly all day and was accordingly invited to compete at the Masters Challenge in Tasmania later this year, while Sam Sweeney was awarded second in the Men’s Open Aerial Rescue and Ryan Hocking, third, in the Men’s Open Speed Climb.
Equally impressive was the degree to which the Citywide brand was represented and showcased to the wider Victorian tree climbing community. Along with a trade stand and a range of giveaways, Citywide had on hand two Nifty Towers, a Display Tower and a Chipper to aid event organisers.
Commenting on the event, Citywide’s Trees Business Manager, Matt Williams, said, “Our guys and girls did a fantastic job today. This is something all four of them will fondly look back on in years to come and be proud of their efforts and their achievements.”
“A big thank you must also go out to the Citywide guys who came down to help out the organizers, as well as assist us in manning the trade stand. Today is really all about the people of Hobson’s Bay coming down to Commonwealth Park and enjoying the spectacle put on by these amazing climbers… to know that we’ve been able to assist the community in the smooth running of this day is something we’re very happy to be apart of”, said Matt.
