The City of Kingston will again be tended by Citywide’s dedicated Open Spaces team after its re-win of an eight-year contract. The area had been managed for six years, after taking over from Spotless in 2007.

The region is renowned for its stunning beaches, bushy reserves and diverse business offerings. Citywide is responsible for maintaining the various sports grounds and sites throughout the council.

Working conditions for maintenance staff will be at a premium standard, with the purchase of all new plant and equipment. Included in the new arsenal are two new Toro 5910 Groundmaster lawn mowers.

"Our workers are more comfortable, yet still efficient" said Lisa Carty, Open Space Business Unit Manager.

The machines have the comfort of a tractor with the versatility of a ride-on mower.

"The mower U-turns on itself, making it much more maneuverable than the previous machines I’d worked
with ", said Jae Sconce, a broad acre mower from Open Space.

Assets in Kingston will also be closely monitored by Citywide’s asset management software (TRAX).

This will be used to capture and store important information relating to the condition of Kingston’s open space facilities.

TRAX will ensure the effective coordination of maintenance activities and the organisation of critical information for the overall management of this contract.
