Great Australian Growth Story - Citywide acquires Technigro

by Citywide | 11.11.2013
Today, Citywide Service Solutions Pty Ltd (Citywide) signed an agreement to acquire Queensland integrated vegetation management group, Technigro Pty Ltd (Technigro). The acquisition will see Technigro’s multi-award winning sustainable environment services and weed control technologies deployed across the Citywide group.

“This is a great Australian growth story,” said Citywide Managing Director, Mr Kerry Osborne. “Citywide’s scale means Technigro’s industry leading expertise will be applied on Australia’s most prominent open spaces.”

Mr Osborne said his company had spent considerable time assessing the Queensland market for potential acquisitions before approaching Technigro.

“We weeded out the rest to zero-in on this home-grown success,” he said.

Technigro currently services commercial, local government and state government customers across Queensland. Citywide manages prominent gardens, bushland and turf in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. In particular, it holds contracts to maintain signature gardens in the City of Sydney and City of Melbourne in addition to those facing parliament house in the national capital, Canberra.

In 2011 the company acquired NSW based Sterling Group Services, a specialist landscaping business. The Technigro acquisition adds new expertise.

“This is a strategic investment for Citywide,” said Mr Osborne. “It significantly strengthens our position in the Queensland market while adding valuable intellectual property to our maintenance and landscaping operations.”

Technigro Chief Executive Officer, Mr Nick Bloor, said he is confident the company he steered to success is in good hands with Citywide, an Australian firm with significant horticultural and arboricultural capabilities.

“Citywide shares our values, passion for Australian open space and track record of innovation,” said Mr Bloor. “We’re looking forward to working with Citywide’s diverse business, taking our expertise beyond Queensland.”

In a company meeting, both CEOs reassured management and employees that their skills and knowledge are valued by Citywide and customers. There will be no interruption to operations as the transfer of ownership is implemented.
