OVER 450,000 Melbournians flocked to the city to ring in the New Year and enjoy a spectacular display of fireworks on midnight.
Citywide’s Traffic & Events team played a vital role in the event ensuring thousands of patrons were able to navigate through four official vantage points stretching from the Docklands to Flagstaff Gardens.
In a statement released by City of Melbourne, organisers praised all ground crews on the night – labelling their hard work an outstanding effort.
Organisers have delivered high praise to ground crews – labelling their hard work as an outstanding effort.
Citywide’s Traffic Plans Designer Rebecca Swanson said weeks of preparation went into the event and was pleased to be able to ensure revellers had an enjoyable start to 2015.
“Over 50 team members worked around the clock to co-ordinate road blocks in and around the city,” Ms Swanson said.
“Our marshals did a fantastic job to help people move around with ease and take in all the festivities.”
The skyline entertainment involved months of meticulous work behind the scenes with Melbournians treated to one of the best firework shows yet.
“Citywide provide traffic management services for many events in Melbourne throughout the year, but News Year Eve is certainly by far the biggest and most rewarding,” Ms Swanson said.
With many upcoming events, 2015 is shaping up to be a busy year for our Traffic & Events team.
