Citywide welcomed John Brumby as Chairman of its Board at its February 2nd Board meeting.
Mr Brumby has been a Citywide Board member since 2012. In addition to his role at Citywide, Mr Brumby sits on a number of Boards including Chairman of MTAA Super and a Director of Huawei Australia. He is a former Treasurer and Premier of Victoria.
Retiring Chairman, Mark Birrell, congratulated Mr Brumby on the new role. “Citywide is a great company with excellent staff across Victoria and along the east coast of Australia. We have got an experienced Board and John’s appointment is evidence of the Board’s depth and our succession planning process.
“I advised the City of Melbourne, our shareholder, last year that I would not be seeking a further term as Chairman. Our Board Nomination Committee appointed the national search firm, Oppeus, in November to advise Citywide and the Council on candidates to consider for the Board.”
Mr Brumby said “I extend the Board’s thanks to outgoing Chairman Mark Birrell for his strong and positive leadership. We particularly wish him well with his expanding role at Infrastructure Australia.
“I am looking forward to this exciting role leading a significant national business. We are one of the largest employers of arborists in the country and our people make a major contribution to building more liveable and sustainable cities.
“Although we operate in challenging operating times, Citywide has a strong future as a major provider of infrastructure, open space and environmental services".
Citywide Service Solutions Pty Limited is a national environmental services business employing around one thousand people and wholly owned by the City of Melbourne since 1995.
