A team of Citywide employees recently volunteered at Australia’s largest charity kitchen, the FareShare kitchen in Abbotsford.

FareShare rescues food that would otherwise be wasted and sent to landfill. With the help of volunteers they prepare and distribute approximately 5,000 free meals a day to hundreds of charities throughout Victoria, which is delivered to people in need.

The Citywide team experienced the ‘engine room’ of this massive operation. Equipped with hats, aprons and open hearts the team were kept busy packing meals, chopping vegetables and washing-up.

Citywide volunteer Jason Brennan tells, “During our shift we assisted in the production of approximately 1,200 meals.”

“I feel lucky to work for a company that gives me the opportunity to volunteer and do something very meaningful for the community.”

“I look forward to doing more volunteer work with FareShare, it’s great to be part of something that helps feed thousands of disadvantaged people and also contributes to a more sustainable environment.”
