CITYWIDE has reaffirmed its support for and active engagement with the national peak body for arborists and tree care service companies after renewing its Silver Sponsorship of Arboriculture Australia.
The company's partnership with 'Arb Aus' will help drive the development of initiatives, including a planned new industry awareness campaign, minimum industry standards, industry licencing and efforts to develop new approaches to recruiting arborists and tree care workers across the country.
Arboriculture Australia represents tree workers, arborists, professional tree managers, urban forestry workers and utility vegetation managers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
“Arboriculture in Australia is a specialist niche industry that, while highly-engaged within itself, lacks public recognition and awareness of the role and value that trees play in our cities and communities,” Matt Williams, GM - Melbourne Contracts at Citywide, said.
"The industry has a number of challenges and opportunities, not least the continuing national shortage of arborists.
"The profession of arborist is one of the top 57 occupations on the federal government's critical skills shortage list yet is a profession rated as having strong future demand.
"The inherent recruitment challenges is something of great concern to the peak body and other members and we have a number of ideas on what we can do to help."
